Waterstone Attends First Nations Land Governance Registry Conference
Published by Waterstone Law GroupLast week, Waterstone Law Group LLP was invited to the First Nations Land Governance Registry (FNLGR) conference at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond. This event brought together land managers, land registry staff, band administrators, and land professionals, including lawyers, lenders, and related experts, to discuss the advancements and benefits of the new FNLGR. Our own Carson Davies and Brydan Heisler had the privilege of attending the conference and participating in important conversations about the FNLGR.
The modernized registry is designed to be an independent land registry, offering increased reliability and user-friendliness, effectively addressing the shortcomings of the previous existing registry systems. Additionally, the FNLGR aims to enhance economic development opportunities for First Nations communities by providing a stable and transparent platform for managing land interests.
Carson and Brydan were impressed by the collaborative spirit and the forward-thinking initiatives discussed at the conference. They look forward to applying the insights gained to better serve our clients and support the advancement of land governance in First Nations communities as the FNLGR is implemented later this year.
