Ed is a partner in our Chilliwack office and has a broad commercial and business law practice with a particular focus in the area of Wills, Estates, Trusts, and Estate Disputes.
Ed advises clients regarding estate planning, trusts and estate administration matters, including wealth management issues, the preparation of wills, powers of attorney, representation agreements, trusts and family business succession.
Ed also represents executors, administrators and trustees in administering estates, regularly acts as Executor/Administrator of estates, and acts for beneficiaries, executors and other claimants in matters and disputes involving breach of trust claims, issues associated with testamentary capacity, and will variation claims. Ed is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Abbotsford, and a frequent lecturer on many topics related to Wills, Estates, and Elder Law.
Ed also acts for many businesses and real estate developers in the Chilliwack area, providing advice in a wide array of matters including the preparation of contracts, corporate reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate finance as well as real estate development including strata plans, subdivisions and corporate developments.
Outside of the office Ed is very active in community affairs, having been a Director and President of the Chilliwack-Fraser Rotary Club, a Director and President of the Chilliwack Family YMCA as well as the YMCA Endowment Foundation and a Director of the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce. Ed has also been a Director and President of the Chilliwack Hospice Society.
Ed was born in Pennsylvania, and after being raised for a number of years in the United States, moved with his family to British Columbia in 1974. Ed received his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of British Columbia before moving east to obtain his law degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax. On his return to British Columbia in 1989, Ed articled and practiced with a Chilliwack law firm before joining Waterstone in 1997.
Ed has a busy family life, and fills any spare time he can find participating in basketball, golf, and traveling.
