David Sliman is a partner in our Litigation Group, acting primarily in the area of personal injury.
Dave limits his practice to acting exclusively for individuals who have been injured by someone’s carelessness, and not for insurance companies trying to deny or limit compensation. As such, the majority of Dave’s practice involves representing injured parties seeking compensation from ICBC.
Dave has experience handling cases involving a broad range of injuries, including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries (including quadriplegia), whiplash, severe fractures, fibromyalgia, Chronic regional pain syndrome (CRPS or RSD); as well as psychological and psychiatric injuries including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Dave is a member of the Trial Lawyers of B.C., The Canadian Bar Association, the American Association for Justice (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America) the Fraser Valley Brain Injury Association, and the B.C. Brain Injury Association. In addition he has been a frequent “grand rounds” lecturer on medical legal issues for doctors in the Fraser Valley.
Dave was born in Vancouver, B.C. and raised in Chilliwack. He obtained both his B.A. and LLB. from the University of British Columbia. Before returning to Chilliwack in 1991 Dave practiced in Vancouver. In the summer of 1994 he co-founded the firm which is now Waterstone Law Group LLP.
Community involvement is an important part of Dave’s life and he has sat on the board of directors of a number of community organizations. Dave is a member of the Chilliwack Mt. Cheam Rotary club and sits on the international youth exchange committee at the district level.
Dave and his wife Colleen live, with their three teenage children, in the Ryder Lake area of Chilliwack. Dave is a self avowed football (a.k.a. “soccer”) fanatic. He has coached youth soccer for the past 14 years, and plays regularly himself. Since having children, Dave’s interest in mountaineering has been downgraded to hiking. He also enjoys reading and, much to Colleen’s chagrin, secretly adding to his library.
