Daniel is an associate working primarily in the areas of general and commercial litigation and employment law.
Employment law represents a significant part of Daniel’s practice. He has successfully represented both employers and employees in matters involving wrongful dismissal claims, human rights claims, contract and policy development, employment standards complaints and workers’ compensation claims. He is the primary contributor to our firm’s BC Employment Lawyer Blog.
In his litigation practice, Daniel has experience in a wide array of matters such as builder’s liens, construction issues, commercial contract disputes, home and commercial insurance claims and personal injury claims. Daniel also handles matters relating to real estate and strata disputes.
Daniel also acts for both creditors and debtors in collection proceedings. He has helped clients in various matters related to foreclosure, debt claims, loan disputes, promissory notes, collateral, security, lease defaults and repossessions. He has also assisted clients who hold judgements outside British Columbia with the registration of their judgments within British Columbia. Daniel has helped creditors to realize upon their claims with seizures, garnishment payment schedules and the sale of land.
Daniel first joined our firm as a summer student in 2007. He returned to article with us and joined the firm as an associate in 2009. Since joining the firm, Daniel has represented clients in both Provincial Court and Supreme Court. He has assisted clients with matters before numerous administrative bodies, including WorksafeBC, the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal, the Employment Standards Branch, the BC Human Rights Tribunal, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal and the Residential Tenancy Branch. In his practice, Daniel strives to find creative, cost-effective resolutions for his clients and he has assisted numerous clients with mediations, arbitrations and out-of-court settlements.
Daniel was born in Odense, Denmark, and has strong local roots after being raised in Chilliwack, BC. Daniel completed his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Political Science from the University of Victoria in 2003. Following this, Daniel spent a year interning with non-profits, and eventually worked as a Youth Liaison for Elections BC during the May 2005 General Provincial Election. In 2008 Daniel obtained his law degree from the University of Victoria.
In his spare time, Daniel enjoys exploring the great outdoors. On weekends you will often find him fishing or hiking. He is also an avid traveler and loves photography.
